This Assassin’s Creed 3 Parkour Fan Film Isn’t Awful

God, fan films are such a mixed bag. Lacking anything close to a professional budget and typically made by people without real experience making movies, they have to be respected for the amount of effort and love that goes into their production. But of course, the short film format is better suited to comedy than it is to drama, unless you have an extremely deft hand. It should also be admitted that fan films tend to look cheap because they try recreating the blockbuster experience without the budget, and rely on shots and elements cribbed from other films. Yeah, some fan films end up being quite good, but most of the time they’re just kind of bad, only good if you’re grading on a steep curve.

Here’s one that suffers from the usual problems – horrendous, obvious cheapness when it comes to wardrobe, and shots that look more parodic than anything else – but manages to be kind of cool anyway. It’s just a free running Connor from Assassin’s Creed 3, roaming around the frontier attacking people. The actor can actually pull off free running and is most impressive. Though, enough with the flipping. Enjoy.
