This FTL Painting Officially Makes Me Want a Sequel

FTL: Faster Than Light includes some harrowing moments that aren’t properly conveyed by screenshots. Often, players will adventure through space, only to be attacked by enemy ships. Shields are raised, weapons primed, and suddenly a warning: Intruder Alert.

This is among the worst things that can happen. An enemy boarding party wreaks havoc on your ship and can kill your crew. Often they maraud through your vessel, destroying whatever they can. The painting above manages to capture some of the terror, depicting an enemy mantis and the crew members preparing to fight it.

The painting was created by FTL forum user Lutzbot, but at this moment we don’t know much more about it or the artist (I’ve reached out for more info). You can check out the forum thread here, where you should tell Lutzbot how awesome this work is. I was already digging FTL, but I’d love to see that game take an even closer look at the ships’ crews and their tribulations. Maybe in FTL 2.

Worst things that can happen? Boarding parties are insanely easy to deal with, or did you miss the giant rockman basking in the shadows?

That mantis is screwed.

Yeah, if it’s just ONE mantis! Also the damn ship’s on fire, or so it would appear from this image.

Anyway, I was speaking generally about boarding parties, which wreak serious havoc on human crews, especially. Glad you find them easy, though.
