This Trailer Makes Me Even More Excited for Indie RPGish To The Moon

At first, I was excited about To The Moon because it looked like an artsy, modern-ish storytelling vehicle in the vein of Chrono Trigger. But at the urging of Kan Gao of Freebird Games, I’m going to stop making that comparison, because it just looks interesting. And interesting is good.

In the latest trailer for To The Moon, Kan records voice-over and explains what we’re seeing as characters move around in the game and we travel through the memories of Johnny, the man whose life story we’re reliving in pieces throughout the game. Kan keeps his voice low — he’s recording at 4 a.m. for some reason — and periodically lapses into moments in which he can’t remember why the trailer he put together cut to the scene it did, or he explains how you have to “kick [object's] ass” in order to progress through the game. He’s candid and really pretty funny; this trailer shifts the whole tone of what I was expecting to see from Freebird’s project.

Check out the trailer below. It’s a good time, and this looks like an indie title that will be worth your attention.
