Three Devs Depart after Epic Acquires Gears of War: Judgment Studio

Epic Games has acquired Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment developer People Can Fly.

Epic previously bought a majority share in the company back in 2007, but now owns it outright as a subsidiary company. In response to the purchase, three staffers have departed the studio to move on to other projects: Gears of War: Judgment creative director Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki.

This follows the departure of Gears of War series Executive Producer Rod Fergusson last week to join Irrational Games, the developer behind BioShock: Infinite.

According to an interview with Polygon, Epic Vice President Mike Capp said the departure of the People Can Fly devs won’t impact Gears of War: Judgment. He also said the departure of the three developers was amiable and that their paths “will cross again” with that of Epic.

People Can Fly was founded in 2002 and is based in Warsaw, Poland. Its first major project was the Painkiller series. Gears of War: Judgment is slated to launch on Xbox 360 in March 2013.
