Titanfall 2 May Not Be a Microsoft Exclusive

Titanfall 2 will be published by Electronic Arts.

At least that’s what sources close to the publisher have indicated. While Electronic Arts itself has refused to comment on the rumor, it’s been reported that the company has secured the future rights to the successful mech-centric shooter.

In turn, while the Titanfall itself has been repeatedly confirmed as a Microsoft exclusive, it’s also been suggested that the terms of EA’s publication agreement could allow for future iterations of the series to make it onto Sony and Nintendo consoles.

This would fall in line with past statements from Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella who Tweeted last year that his company will “of course” be making games for the PS4, “just not the first Titanfall.” The Titanfall franchise spreading to other platforms could, of course, be a substantial blow to Microsoft. Up until now, the Xbox One’s sales have fallen consistently short of the PS4′s. The release of Titanfall, however, gave the console in some markets.
