Titanfall: Expedition DLC Launches Tomorrow
After rolling out a trailer for the new Titanfall DLC on Monday, Respawn has announced that the Expedition DLC will be available tomorrow.
Titanfall’s first DLC will launch with three new maps: Runoff, Swampland and War Games. Unlike the maps that shipped with the game, these new battlefields are set deeper into the frontier. According to the description on the official site,
In the wake of the Battle of Demeter, IMC Expeditionary Forces travel deep into Frontier space to recover from their recent defeat. On an uncharted world, the IMC begin construction of a new fleet operations base, using newly acquired water collection and filtration plants to support the new base. When drainage operations reveal ancient ruins and artifacts of an unknown origin in a nearby swamp, Spyglass activates an archaeological team to investigate the site. To maintain battle readiness at the new base, IMC Pilots use simulation pods to train for anticipated Militia raids, based on lessons learned in Angel City and IMC Airbase Sierra.
Expedition represents the first of three DLC packs planned for Titanfall, with each one priced at $9.99. If you’re already planing to buy all three, the Season Pass will save you about five bucks at $24.99. While the DLC is launching on PC, PS4, and Xbox One tomorrow, the 360 version isn’t coming until next month.
To be honest, three maps is a bit disappointing for Titanfall’s first DLC. For a game that’s already fairly light on content, you have to wonder how many people are willing to plunk down another ten dollars for a DLC that adds very little to the game. As our Phil Hornshaw said in his review, “Players will keep coming back for those great, high-intensity moments, but for how long isn’t yet clear.” We’ll have to wait and see how many people are interested emough to grab the DLC, but it surely wouldn’t have hurt if Respawn had included a new game mode in there to sweeten the deal.
