Titanfall Will Not Support Cross-Platform Play

Respawn Entertainment has no plans to offer cross-platform play for Titanfall.

In a short interview at Gamescom with Videogamer, Community Manager Abbie Heppe revealed that Xbox One players will not be able to play with Xbox 360 and PC players, or vice-versa.

“We will be able to offer dedicated servers on Xbox 360,” said Heppe. “Obviously… Xbox 360 players are not going to be playing with Xbox One players, they’re not going to be playing with PC; those will be separated groups.”

Heppe also added that the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall is not being developed in-house at Respawn and is instead being handled by a third party developer.

“We haven’t said [who is developing the 360 port yet] and I don’t think I can say right now because I would be worried that now they’re going to get inundated and I haven’t prepared them. I should probably talk to them first! But we’re working really closely with them.

“Obviously we want the Xbox 360 version to be as good as it can be so our producer works with them constantly and is making sure that it definitely has our oversight.”

She continued: “But since we’re still working on the [Xbox 360] port and all the feature sets for it, I honestly don’t know [how different it will be] yet. Once we reach the end of that we’ll be able to more specifically lay out what the differences between the two will be. Obviously there will be some, but we don’t even know. It’s one of those, like, ‘How much can we fit in before we have to go to cert’?”

Titanfall is slated for a Spring 2014 release on the PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

360 and XB1 I can see the issues with. But there’s no excuse for separating PC and XB1 players. Microsoft should have insisted on cross-platform between the two. Oh wait, I forgot – Microsoft is clueless.

Good. No FPS PC gamer wants to play in a game with someone using a controller. That’s just absurd.

lolz no one cares about Xbox players PC rules over a box you can’t even play with. So there no bad about no cross platforming. Who needs a dweeb with a controller.? Science rules

I’m honestly curious, has there even been cross platform play in any game ever?
