Tomb Raider 2013 on New-Gen Consoles Gets TressFX Hair

As a member of the #PCMasterRace I played Tomb Raider 2013 in 1080p 3D with all settings maxed, so I’m gonna pass on Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition on PS4 and Xbox One when it hits in January. However, if you did not play Crystal Dynamics’ latest in all its glory, then there are probably worse ways you could spend your money, because maxed out Tomb Raider is truly a beautiful sight.

Based on the trailer shown at the VGX thing (absent scientific analysis), it does appear as if the Definitive Edition brings the game up to PC standards for the new consoles. That may not be the most ringing endorsement of #thenewage, but it’s a good signifier nonetheless of how the PS4 and Xbone have improved over their predecessors.

Also, this version will include, it seems, the previously PC-exclusive TressFX hair tech for Lara’s ponytail. TressFX is an AMD tech, and both new platforms are powered by AMD APUs.

I think this last Tomb Raider was probably one of my top five favourite games of this last year so playing it again won’t bother me at all.
