Top 10 Best Grand Theft Auto PC Game Mods

UPDATE: March 29 2013: We’ve added 5 bonus mods to this list!

The GTA series has been around for ages, and with the recent announcement of GTA V, it’s not going anywhere. Over the years, we’ve seen some crazy mods for the various GTA titles, so here’s a look back on some of the best mods created for our favorite action sandbox game.

If your favorite mod didn’t make the list, leave a comment linking us to it!

Bonus Mod 1: San Andreas Mod Installer — GTA San Andreas

Also known as Sami, the San Andreas Mod Installer is a must-have for anyone planning on installing multiple mods. This tool allows you to instal mods and custom vehicles without having to edit the game files yourself. Sure, you can say that you’re a hardcore PC mod guy and don’t need any fancy software to do the legwork for you, but really, it’ll save you some time and effort.

Bonus Mod 2: IMG Tool — GTA 3/Vice City/San Andreas

While I can’t recommend Sami enough, the IMG Tool works for Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas. It is required for installing modifications such as cars, skins, weapons, and other in-game items via “GTA3.img” files.

Bonus Mod 3: GTA SA Downgrader Patch — GTA San Andreas

People with the second edition of GTA San Andreas may have issues running certain modifications. This patch downgrades the game to a version that should be able to run any modification without crashing. If you’ve been experiencing crashes while trying out mods, then this may be the fix for you.

Bonus Mod 4: Real GTA III — GTA 3

This total conversion changes everything about GTA 3 — textures, cars, buildings, and more. Many models and textures have been ported over from Vice City; others are high-resolution remakes. Performance barely takes a hit.

All of the game’s cars are replaced with real-life counterparts, such as Aston Martin’s Vantage, Volkswagen’s Passat, and even an F-16 fighter jet to replace the Dodo.

Most of the shops, signs, and other locales have been changed to real-life brands and names, such as McDonald’s, AMD, and Pepsi.

Bonus Mod 5: 100% Complete Save Game — GTA San Andreas

So, you’ve just purchased or reinstalled San Andreas. Great — congratulations on making a good decision. But maybe you’re like me and don’t feel like grinding through the story to unlock everything — maybe you just wanted to drive around like a madman, unrestricted.

This is a saved game file at 100% completion that will allow you to do just that.

This list is worthless. You set a speedometer mod as the best mod and you completely ignore a whole multiplayer modification for GTA:SA as MTA: http://www.mtasa.com

Speedometer, Tumbler and Noobmode. Seriously?
Where is Vice Cry, SA-MP (or MTA) and Vice City Stories PC Edition? This rank is pathetic. Fix it or delete, please, because now it’s a junk.

My favourite mod is Donk Tires\Rims. Here’s a video stating why:
