5. Dark lance

With a long reach and a fast attack speed, this spear-like weapon is effective against most monsters.

How do I get it? You can find the Dark Lance in shadow chests in the Underworld.

4. Night’s Edge

This sword is the melee weapon that deals the most damage in the game.

How do I get it? You can craft Night’s Edge by combining one Light’s Bane, one Muramasa, one Blade of Grass, and one Fiery Greatsword at a Demon Altar

3. Phoenix Blaster

Possibly the best gun in the game, the Phoenix Blaster has a very fast attack speed, deals solid damage, and is relatively inexpensive. It is one of the best choices for fighting bosses because the loot you’ll get will generally outweigh the cost of ammo spent.

How do I get it? You can craft the Phoenix Blaster at an Anvil using a Handgun and 20 Hellstone Bars, and you can rarely find it in Chests.

2. Sunfury
This flail deals some of the highest damage in the game (factoring out ammo-consuming weapons) and is excellent at taking out multiple clustered enemies, burrowing enemies, and bosses — especially the Eater of Worlds, who falls into both the latter categories.

How do I get it? You can find the Sunfury in shadow chests in the underworld.

1. Muramasa

Arguably the best melee weapon in the game, this sword has a very fast attack speed and a wide damage arc.

How do I get it? You can only find this weapon in Dungeon chests.

BONUS. Star Cannon

It’s a cannon. That fires fallen stars. Its damage output is among the highest in the game, but its slow rate of fire and the rarity of its ammo prevent it from being the best weapon in Terraria.

How do I get it? You can craft a Star Cannon by combining 1 Minishark, 20 Meteorite Bars, and 5 Fallen Stars at an Anvil.
