How to Find the Minecraft Easter Egg

NOTE: The special dungeon doesn’t always show up on this map! If it doesn’t, you’ll need to reset the map. To do so, select Lan game and choose the map re-roll option in the menu. Then you can play singleplayer with a new map. [Thanks to Tsukushi in the comments for this suggestion!]

  • Wait until you reach Act 3. When there, continue doing quests as normal until you’re told to go to the Sundered Battlefield.
  • In the battlefields, run up to the very northern edge of the map. All the way up to the top. Near the tip, you should find the entrance into a dungeon called “Notch’s Mine”. Notch is the handle of Markus Persson, a co-founder of Mojang and one of the original developers of Minecraft.
  • Inside this very small dungeon you’ll find a handful of evil Creepers — infamous Minecraft enemies that hide in the shadows and explode when they get close.

  • At the end of the dungeon, you’ll also find a treasure chest. Inside, you’ll find a very unique weapon called the Iron Sword.

Goodluck!

I found a gold sword when I went there, so it must be leveled! I wonder if you can get a diamond one? :D

You forgot to mention how to unlock the mine. This thread is a lot of effort to explain nothing at all.

Theres a tribute to Portal 2 in the same area. if you go to the top of the battlefield map (east) there is a door leading to the Emberworks with an eye that looks and sounds just like GlaDOS.

Notch’s Mine doesn’t always show up, if you don’t see it, then re-roll the map and try again. I found it at my third re-roll.

By the way, in order to re-roll map, just make a Lan game and select the box with that option. Then you can go Single player again with a new map generated.

Hope it helps. =)
