Torchlight 2 Tops Two Million Copies in Sales

The sales of Torchlight 2 have surpassed over two million copies since its launch last September, Runic has announced through Twitter.

The sales record is a notable achievement given that the game is available only on the PC. By comparison, the first Torchlight only managed to sell a million copies between its collective PC, Mac, and Xbox Live Arcade versions during the first eight months of its release.

The developers have no announced plans to bring the game to either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 consoles, although a Mac version is said to be in the works.

Torchlight 2 managed to hit the one million mark in January, and has since seen the release of its GUTS Editor on the Steam Workshop, which allows players to delve into the “guts” of the game and modify everything about the game—from weapons and armor to the character classes, UI and campaign.

In our review of Torchlight 2, our reviewer, CJ Miozzi, called the game “one of the greatest ARPGs ever made.”

Good for them, seriously. They took their time and made something worth being proud of. Though I’d like to know how many sales they made without discount… this could be a sadder story than it sounds.
