Total War: Shogun 2 Demo Coming Feb. 22

SEGA has just announced that you’ll be able to try out Total War: Shogun 2 yourself next week. The demo will be available on Steam on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The demo will let you try out land battles in the upcoming strategy titles, as well as the new campaign map. How big are these innovations? Well, I haven’t played it yet, but Ben has. You can check out his preview right here.

The same press release also details the pre-order bonuses for the game. Here’s what you can grab if you order early:

  • GameStop (online or in-store): Unlock and take part in The Historic Battle of Kawagoe. Set in 1545, the Battle of Kawagoe saw the Hõjõ clan launch a successful night time counter-attack against the besieging Uesugi, eschewing heavy armor and the collection of heads in favor of speed and stealth.
  • Best Buy (online or in-store only): Unlock 1,000 Koku, the currency used in Total War: Shogun 2. Player’s campaigns will begin with 1,000 Koku, allowing them to purchase new buildings, train new units and upgrade their towns.

You should have plenty of time with the demo to decide whether or not you want to pre-order, as Shogun 2 won’t hit stores (and Steam) until March 15, 2011.
