Touch Controls Added to Total War: Rome 2

I’m not sure how effective touch controls would be in one of those massive battles in Total War: Rome 2, but armchair generals can go ahead and start swiping and pinching — if they’ve got the tech.

Creative Assembly announced today that it has added a touch-enabled control system to its strategy game, and it’s available now as a part of a free update.

No, you won’t find Rome 2 in the Apple App Store or on your Android-powered tablet. You’ll still need something with a bit more oomph to play Total War, but Creative Assembly did partner with Intel to get Rome 2 up and running on the 2-in-1 Ultrabook line of laptops/tablets.

Given that the likes of Unreal Engine 4 are now targeting high-end gaming on tablets, it likely won’t be long before we’ll all be able to play Total War on our iPads.

Rome 2 proved how out of touch Creative Assembly is with their die hard fanbase, this new addition just reinforces that fact.

Despite how bad Rome 2 was Egosoft proved they were even more out of touch with their fanbase with X-Rebirth. So many disappointing games last year 2013 was kinda depressing, so many developers taking the `Bioware´ approach to game development. Take something very successful, strip away all the bits people like, streamline further, pile on the graphics and release it with the intention of attracting a `new´ crowd.
