Trey Parker, Matt Stone Talk South Park: The Stick of Truth

You know you’re getting your South Park game right when Trey Parker and Matt Stone say it captures the show’s “authentic crappiness.”

The duo are part of a new behind-the-scenes video for South Park: The Stick of Truth, which details how the project went from a simple black and white animatic to a role playing game that captures South Park’s… unique feel. See for yourself below:

Really looking forward to this one. There are a couple red flags, most notably publisher Ubisoft deciding it needed a significant delay shortly after it acquired South Park: The Stick of Truth in the THQ auction. And that was after THQ  delayed release, itself. You might recall, we were originally supposed to be playing South Park in March 2013. Ubisoft even went so far as to issue a statement with this gem of a quote:

“Within three weeks after acquiring the game, we sadly realized we had to turn this thing upside down if we hoped to deliver the experience everybody wanted. It’s been such a major overhaul to get to the point where we are that we couldn’t let it go, even if that meant missing December.”

Lots to like about what we’ve seen and heard thus far from the devs and Trey and Matt, but South Park: The Stick of Truth has had a long and difficult development history. Hopefully this latest lengthy delay ironed out all the kinks. We’ll find out when the RPG finally ships on March 4.
