TRON, Turok Maker Propaganda Games Closes

Disney Interactive Studios just shut the doors on Vancouver-based Propaganda Games, which just came off publishing TRON: Evolution.

Disney confirmed the news to GameStop, which said it was finished on the TRON: Legacy film tie-in (so don’t expect much in the way of DLC). Propaganda was only formed in 2005 by Disney and EA, and it has been suffering staff and payroll cuts for years, even while it was working on Turok. And last October, its next project, Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, was axed suddenly.

Propaganda’s shutdown follows close on the heels of the news that Activision is closing down Bizarre Creations, despite rumors that Microsoft might be coming to the studio’s rescue.

It’s a dark day for game studios — although I wasn’t that impressed by either Turok or TRON. Still, sorry to say a fledgling studio smashed with only two games in the bucket.
