As if traveling via plane weren’t hassle enough, now people taking their game consoles with them have an extra headache awaiting them at the airport. The Transportation Security Administration has ruled that travelers must remove game consoles and DVD players from their baggage to be ex-rayed separately at security checkpoints.
The airlines claim everything’s going smoothly and some like JetBlue have taken the precaution of including the new regulations in pre-flight information. Still frequent travelers, like author Dan Poynter, 68, of Santa Barbara, CA are concerned that this new procedure will result in even more delays as summer passengers, unused to traveling, are confronted with the new rules.
“They don’t have ‘frequent traveler’ lines and ‘I don’t know what I’m doing’ lines,” says Poynter, who averages 4,000 miles per week in the air. Forcing everyone to remove their electronics, “it’ll slow things down.”
Granted I wouldn’t be taking any of my large gaming consoles with me if I had to travel by plane, but I’m sure that this will throw a wrench into some gamers’ summer travel plans.

Not surprising. TSA has taken my chapstick several times. When my grandfather died, they made my dad pour out the ashes from the urn into a paper cup so they could scan it. I think they go overboard with some procedures and underboard with the important ones.

As a TSA employee, I find your response totally nonbelieveable. TSA does not take Chapstick. Restrictions are on liquids, gels, cremes, pastes, lotions, and similar substances; Chapstick is non of these. If by chance your Chapstick was taken once, why would you continue to bring it to the airport time after time?
Also your claim about ashes being dumped out is an outright lie. NEVER are human remains opened. There are many ways to screen ashes, all which do not include opening an urn. Get your facts straight. Also, why even take your game system in carry on luggage? You obviously won’t be playing during your flight. Check your bag and save the hassle…maybe mommy and daddy can help you do it.
