Turn-based Sneaking: Incognita Enters Alpha
Klei Entertainment is ditching the black pajamas and swords for trench coats and silenced handguns. The team behind Mark of the Ninja is playing the spy game with its new turn-based, isometric tactical espionage adventure, and you can try it now, as in right now, because Incognita is in alpha and open to anyone who preorders.
Posting on the official Klei forums, the studio announced the Incognita alpha, noting that anyone who dives in should take the “alpha” seriously:
“Alpha means the game is still in a very early state, and we do not have many of our major features implemented!” Klei stated. “What the game will look like in this state is a single (randomly generated) level, with a few agents and little to no progression. The current Alpha build has most of our core tactical and strategic systems, as well as our engine, UI, procedural generation and so on, but is missing some major progression systems and missing most of our content, which will be developed as we get further along in the process.”
Still interested? Your ticket into the alpha is a preorder. Head on over to the official Incognita website and shell out $15 for the game (15% off the final retail price) or $20 for Incognita and its soundtrack (20% off). You’ll receive all updates as well as the final finished product, which is expected to launch in early 2014, without additional charge. And to make it worth your while, Klei is throwing in an extra copy you can gift to a friend.
See what you’ll be getting into in the alpha trailer below. Once it’s finished, throw your monitor or laptop or fancy smart device out the window, because the message self destructs in 20 seconds.
