i have both the ps3 and the xbox 360. both run really well and have interesting games. people who buy one system seem to preference it more and tend to bad talk the other system.
But to me it seems that its all up to the developers. From what i have heard, it seems that the developers first make the game for the xbox 360 and then port it to the ps3, which is why ps3 games seem to be less impressive.
but when the systems have their own exclusive, Example: NaughtyDog, Insomniac, then they can focus on the systems abilities making the games run smoothly.
But that will never happen because since microsoft pretty much pays all the game developers then sony will always get the short end of the stick.

I think that the Playstation 3 is alot better than the 360, in a lot of ways im not getting into, cause it seems like there enough debating going on. All I would like to know is how to make the PS3 version of Oblivion run better? Or is it just a buggy game to begin with? help me out here someone! thanks!

All i know is I own a Xbox 360 as well as a PS3. I recieved Madden 08 for the PS3 as a Christmas gift. Since I already own this game for the 360 I figured I would pop it in to see the difference. It ran like complete crap on the PS3. I can not believe how much crapier the PS3 is compaired to the 360. However, I do now own a Blueray player. This is better than i can say for the 360. I recomend the 360 for gameplay, and the PS3 for hi def movies.

Weather its the devs or the hardwares fault, dont this defeat the purpose of a console either way? The whole "just put the disc in and play" thing? The closer consoles get to being PC's the more PC-like problems they are going to have.. just like this. May as well get a gaming PC.

"If Sony's product is advanced as it's supposed to be in the first place, why would the devs be to blame Norbit ?"

Is that a serious question? Do you just see the word Sony and attack without thinking things through?

So according to you Dirt running badly on the 360 must have been down to faults in Microsoft's hardware not lazy developing. Strange how the devs had a few month longer for the PS3 version and released it bug free. I assume the patch released on the 360 for Bioshock was brought about by Microsoft's hardware being faulty and not down to lazy developing either? After all the 360 is so much easier to develop for than the 360 so the devs cant be having any problems with that so all issuse on the 360 are (according to you) 100% the fault of the hardware.

Given that devs fuck up a lot of 360 games when that's easier to dev for then the PS3 you would have to be a complete cretin to think that problems with games on the PS3 are all the fault of the console.

"I still think the XMB is the source of a lot of PS3 problems. Sony really needs to reduce the footprint and optimize that sucker."

Common theory spread (normally by 360 fane unsurprisingly) for the last year with zero evidence to back it up. If it is a problem then fair enough but as I said, there is zero evidence of that being the case. Sony are apparently reducing the allocation to the XMB from the complete 7th SPU + 64MB of XDR RAM and 32MB GDDR3 VRAM to having non complete control over the 7th SPU and 32MB of XDR with NO GDDR3. They obviously allocated a large resource for the simple reason that they had a lot spare. After seeing data from users it seems they didn't need to allocate that much so it makes sense to reduce it.

There is absolutely no evidence that any games would run better with a smaller XMB footprint or that it was the XMB causing slow rates in previous games. Its just more convenient and fitting to their agenda for certain people to blame things on Sony hardware than the more obvious explanation which is poor developing. If Oblivion and Dirt can both run smoother on the PS3 than the 360 there is obviously not a problem with the XMB.

the XMB has its own core of the cell processor reserved to stop it interfering.
