Ubisoft about to Announce A “Big Triple-A” Game

Ubisoft Toronto is about to announce a big triple-A game. Speaking with CVG at GDC, studio head Jade Raymond expressed her excitement about the project and assured fans that the developer is still focused on Splinter Cell.

Raymond said:

We are about to announce our first big triple-A being developed by the studio. I’ve got to say I think it’s going better than I could’ve imagined. I’m really amazed at the team we’ve put together and what we’ve been able to accomplish and I think Ubisoft is pretty excited too. Soon we’ll find out what everyone else thinks!

How soon this announcement will come is anyone’s guess, but Raymond went on to suggest the title may be part of the Splinter Cell franchise:

We’re not actually working on a big new IP yet within the studio. It’s one of the mandates and we’re definitely starting up some things in that direction, but we’re not working on a big new IP yet. Right now we’re 100% focused on Splinter Cell.

If it is Splinter Cell, let’s hope the series returns to its roots. What game do you want Ubisoft to reveal?

It’s Splinter Cell: Retribution. This was leaked months ago along with Ass Creed 3. Judging by their current treatment of Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon, it will most likely suck.

You will never take on three Mercs as a Spy and come out feeling like the very essence of the darkness again.

EA can’t make a ‘big triple-a’ game… all they’ve ever done is bad in the last few years. either the story is bad and you get tired of it or the game is pretty much the same all the way. so no, this is not going to happen. ever.

Doesn’t really matter what game they make, it’ll be ruined with DRM.
