Ubisoft Delays The Division to 2015

In a move that should surprise no one, Ubisoft announced today that Tom Clancy’s The Division has been delayed into 2015.

While the internet was abuzz with the announcement of Far Cry 4 and its bizarre cover art, the news broke that The Division had been delayed. In a financial call today, Ubi CEO Yves Guillemot said of the open-world shooter,

“It will now be released in calendar 2015. We will provide more information on this highly anticipated new brand at E3.”

In January, a rumor circulated that included a quote from a supposed developer on the game, who called the 2014 release date “laughable,” and also stated that while work on the game’s engine was proceeding well, “actual game development has barely started.”

Obviously, that rumor is now confirmed, and while it’s a bit disappointing, it’s not all that surprising. We’ll have more on The Division from E3 in a few weeks, most likely at Ubisoft’s press conference.
