Ubisoft Finally Announces Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood for this Year

Coming this holiday season is Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, the title we all knew was coming but didn’t have official confirmation on.
Just a year removed from Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft Montreal will deliver an entirely new title with “15 hours of single-player gameplay set in the living, breathing, unpredictable city of Rome” and, in a first for the series, online multiplayer. And as has been speculated, Ezio, the hero of ACII, will be returning.
Per the press release:
“The critically acclaimed single-player experience of Assassin’s Creed is back and better than ever as Ezio returns in an epic struggle against the powerful Templar Order. Now a legendary Master Assassin, he must journey into Italy’s greatest city, Rome, center of power, greed and corruption to strike at the heart of the enemy. Defeating the corrupt tyrants entrenched there will require not only strength, but leadership, as Ezio commands an entire Brotherhood that will rally to his side. Only by working together can the Assassins defeat their mortal enemies.
And for the first time, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood offers a never-before-seen multiplayer layer. Players can help the Templars by using Abstergo to train in the art of Assassination to eliminate the Assassins once and for all. Players can choose from a wide range of unique characters, each with their own signature weapons and assassination techniques, and match their skills against other players from all over the world in different game modes.”
The release also notes that the Playstation: The Official Magazine will have an exclusive first look in its July issue, which hits next month.
So yeah, I, for one, am pretty glad a new one is coming out so quickly, if only because ACII had such an insane and completely out-of-left-field twist that I really, really want to see how it plays out. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the game — it was a bit too structured for an open-world game — but the story is so compelling that they sucked me in anyway.
