Ubisoft Is Pitching A Ghost Recon Movie

It’s 2013, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy resurrecting an old chestnut from the previous few years, so here goes: bet on this news not coming to pass.

Anyway, news has emerged that Ubisoft, already working on a Michael Fassbender-produced/starring Assassin’s Creed film, is busy pimping a Ghost Recon movie to studios. According to the LA Times, the company is “putting together a pitch for a movie based on the “Ghost Recon” games about a special operations military squad.”

I have no idea what it would be about or why it’s even a good idea. Assassin’s Creed might not actually make it to the screen, as video game movies have a way of not panning out, but at least it has a very solid and somewhat original premise that feels made for the movies. The Ghost Recon series are just war games, games that basically feel like an attempt to give players a cinematic, but controllable experience. Making a copy of a copy feels a like a recipe for silliness.

I also feel very strongly that even if it’s greenlit, nothing will come of it. What do you guys think? Would you see it? Sound off in comments.

Sum of All Fears, Hunt for the Red October, Clear and Present Danger?

If they get some random dude to do the plot though then yeah the movie would suck balls.
