Ubisoft Making Watch Dogs Movie

Ubisoft, having recently established itself as a movie studio (with Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell movies in the works) as well as a major video game entity, is keeping that ball rolling with a movie based on Watch Dogs. The film will be produced in conjunction with Sony’s Columbia Pictures division and New Regency.

“Since both Sony and Ubisoft have movie and video game branches, this deal creates exceptional opportunities for us to merge the realms of the story-based cinematic experience with the interaction of the video game,” said Ubisoft Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet in a press release. “In addition, Sony Pictures and New Regency have deep production expertise and are letting us maintain a strong creative voice in the film’s development. Together, we’re confident we can deliver a movie that builds upon the excitement that the game is already generating.”

No director, writer(s), cast or any of that yet.
