Ubisoft Squashes Watch Dogs Demo Rumor

So will Ubisoft be testing out its eight-player, freeroam multiplayer mode in Watch Dogs with a demo?

No. No it will not.

With a post on Twitter, Ubisoft Montreal Creative Director Jonathan Morin drove a stake into the rumor’s dark heart:

Asked why there would be no Watch Dogs demo, Morin responded:

At this point, it appears if there is any testing of Watch Dogs’ multiplayer before launch, it will be in beta form. In early March, a number of Xbox One gamers spotted a Watch Dogs closed beta on the Xbox Store. The listing was quickly removed, but Ubisoft has yet to respond to questions about a closed beta. Given that Watch Dogs is set for release in just two months (May 27), we should find out for sure soon.

Seeing more footage is only worth something if it’s actually indicative of the finished product, and given this game’s recent run in with releasing footage that turned out to be misleading, I’m not impressed by the decision not to release a demo.
