Ubisoft Releasing Far Cry 3 Texture Pack — For Minecraft

In a brilliant bit of marketing, Ubisoft has announced that it’s releasing a free Minecraft map and texture pack modeled after the setting and look of its upcoming title, Far Cry 3.

Here’s the official description of the pack from Ubisoft’s press release:

“This pack allows users to explore and survive the Minecraft experience through the warped lens of Far Cry 3, with modifications to all aspects of the original game, including environments, weapons and tools. Discover key Far Cry 3 locations and characters, including Vaas, Jason and Citra, all completely redesigned in Minecraft style. The map also features over 50 Easter Eggs, hidden throughout the Islands.”

The map was created by Minecraft modder Michael Lambert (the creator of Newcraft City, also known as Sacr3), with the help of texture artists Axel Janssen and Yohann Delcourt. The pack will be available on Oct. 26 on the Far Cry web site here. Ubisoft also released a few images like the one above, but unfortunately, they don’t show what the pack will look like in Minecraft. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

What do you guys think — will you be picking up the Far Cry 3 map pack for Minecraft?

Just wanted to point out a minor error in the article: The pack is coming out the 26th, not the 16th :)
