Ubisoft Roundup: MMORPG, Next-Gen Racer and New IP

PlayStation LifeStyle posted a roundup on what projects Ubisoft has in the works, both confirmed and rumored via LinkedIn profiles. In short: a next-gen console racing game, an MMORPG, and a new next-gen IP.

Ubisoft Montpellier — the team behind Rayman, Beyond Good & Evil and ZombiU — seems to have plans for a next gen console racer, based on this LinkedIn profile. Development began as late as August 2011.

Massive is developing an AAA RPG for next-gen consoles according to this LinkedIn, and evidence suggests it may be an MMO with a development team 250 members strong. Ubisoft Shanghai may also be involved — they’re working on a “‘Confidential Title’ Next-gen Console (RPG).”

Ubisoft Montreal has been working on “a new unannounced Next Gen IP,” since as late as December 2011; little else is known.

Of course, Ubisoft has a next-gen Assassin’s Creed in the works, and a Prince of Persia game is also heavily rumored to be rebooted next gen.
