Uncharted 4 Director Leaving Naughty Dog
Uncharted director Justin Richmond is leaving Naughty Dog.
Richmond, who was working as the game director for Uncharted 4 prior to his departure, confirmed his departure in a statement where he also confirmed he would be taking a new position at Riot Games.
“I have, in fact, made the decision to leave Naughty Dog,” he said. “I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
Richmond’s departure comes only a few weeks after it was announced that Amy Hennig, the lead writer behind the Uncharted series, was also leaving the company. While rumors emerged that The Last of Us’s creative and game directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley had “forced” Hennig out, Naughty Dog issued a statement denying it.
Richmond’s exit, comparatively, looks to be much more cut and dry, though it could leave some gamers questioning the fate of the newUncharted for the PS4. Perhaps predicting such reactions Sony has released a statement confirming that “the development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted.”
