The University of Texas Department of Psychology is conducting a survey for mmorpg players – specifically World of Warcraft and Second Life players – to determine the “personalities and motivations” of online gamers. It is a four page survey and asks you many questions running gambit of normal everyday quearies like: On a scale of one to five are you someone who: “finds fault with others”, “can be tense”, “has an active imagination”, “starts quarrels with others”, “has a forgiving nature”. Well, on a scale of 1-5, I would have to answer: 5, 5, 5, 5, 1.
I only got to page two before I stopped messing around, because I do not want to muck things up for their study. I seriously considered not posting this at all because I fear that if enough joksters fill this out with negative responses, it will be used against gamers in the future. That would only provide more fodder for Jacky T and his minions (I refuse to utter his real name). But, you are all big boys and gals, and are capable of making your own mature decisions. So go have your laugh, if you like. I am sure most Digg users have already.
Also, after taking the survey, if you are a Second Life player, you will be entered into a lottery with the possibility of winning 2000 Linden and I assume that if you play WoW you will be entered to win 2000 gold.
