Unreal Development Kit Fall 2011 Trailer and Beta Download

I’m not a developer, and therefore not the kind of person who likes to see extremely technical language and footage set to pounding drum ‘n’ bass, but even I have to admit: some of the stuff in the Unreal Development Kit’s Fall update looks pretty frickin’ cool. It may not be as spectacular as the Unreal Engine 3 rollout at GDC 11, but it’s still impressive.

Don’t just take my word for it, though — check out the entire video:

If you like what you see, hit the link below to download the UDK beta! Now you can spend your entire evening adjusting shader models. If you want to try out the competition, CryTek has also made their development tools free to the public.

I spent a little bit of time with the sdk a couple weeks ago and they sure make it look so much easyer then it really is, plus it was laggy and buggy, hopefully this update can have some stability fix’s.

“CryTek has made their development tools free to the public, and Epic, not a company to be outdone, has gone the same route. Now you can spend your entire evening adjusting shader models.”

Am I reading this wrong? This makes it sound like Epic got the idea from CryTek. UDK was available for free over a year before CE3 was released to the public.

@Garyn — You’re right, it was ambiguously worded. I changed the text to better reflect the chronology.
