Unreal Tournament 3 Will not Use Games for Windows LIVE

ut3.jpg

What’s more cool than being able to play games with your friends on their PS3s across town using your PC? If you said nothing, that’s not quite the right answer–but it’s close.

Epic Vice President Mark Rein said in a recent post that Unreal Tournament 3 is NOT going to be using Games for Windows LIVE, meaning there is still a possibility for cross-platform play. According to Rein’s post, however, they’re “not 100% sure that users want that feature,” but they’re going to play around with the idea.

I can’t understand why gamers wouldn’t want this feature. For years there has been a huge divide between gamers who have consoles and those who have PCs, and I don’t know if there’s been anything to bridge that gap.

Epic, seriously, bring it on.

Can they maybe bring-on system requirements too, while they’re at it?

But yeah, I udnerstand your point. It’s almost as if they’ve gone, “Hmm, you know…I think and I should say I’m getting this from a handful of gamers, that they want cross-platform play or something.”

I for one would love to be able to play on my PC against those console gamers.
I’ll show them once and for all the superiority of WASD and mouse over some silly controller.

Bring it on!

As a million other people have said over and over – the only way cross-platform would work with FPS is if they screw with PC mouse sensitivity (make it slow slow slow) and giving console autoaim

in other words, bat

beastrn thats BS. The PS3 already supports keyboard and mouse. Playing on the PS3 wouldn’t be any different from a PC (bigger screen). I would never play UT without a keyboard and mouse, but at the same time I don’t see the point in spending crap loads of money on a new PC, when it would just be for UT3 (my PC works fine otherwise). The PS3 is the perfect solution.

You have to admit, though, should multi-platform play become a viable option, how long would it take for the average PC Gamer to realize the pros of a console versus a PC?

Talk about increasing the odds of Console Favorability in the marketplace.

Will Unreal Tournament 2007 or 3 work for windows VISTA?

I’m not entirely sure what will or will not run with Vista.

I, personally, am not planning on going Vista, at least for another year anyway. Especially with the DX 10 and 10.1 fiasco clouding the future of compatible hardware.
However, there is a handy site out there which does show the compatibility factor of a game and your specific system, check out:

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/

Their software is an Active X control, but it is legitimate and does give you a system-wide comparison to minimum versus recommended hardware spec.
