Valve Confirms New Counter-Strike

In the wake of the rumors flying around about a new Counter-Strike game, it must have been only a matter of time before Valve confirmed it. And they just did. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will make it’s way to Xbox Live, the Playstation Network and Steam for PC and Mac in early 2012 (Valve Time).

Here’s the line in the press release that basically gives us all the info on the game: “CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leaderboards, and more.”

Valve is developing the game, of course, but they’re working in conjunction with another studio: Hidden Path, who’ve been helping update CSS over the years.

And that’s what we know. If you’re heading to PAX in a couple weeks, rejoice; you’ll be able to play the game there.

We say Ep.3, we get CS…….

On August 18, 2011 at 11:49 am

Gabe, get your fat butt off of the pointless games and give us Half Life 2 Ep 3! We don’t want another pointless spray and pray game that you can only play on multiplayer! In fact, don’t distribute it for XBox and PS3, you’ll just get mic spammers and 5 year olds playing it! Besides, on XBox we would have to pay every month just for a game with barely any changes from the last one! Next time work on something people have been waiting for.

great i think that means somehow that there will be a new source engine and that may mean that hl3 is coming out soon :)
