Valve Sells 3 Million Copies of Portal 2

That whole Portal 2 thing has done pretty well since its April release, it seems.

Valve’s Gabe Newell said today at Games for Change in New York that Portal 2 had sold more than 3 million copies in the last two months or so, although just how that breaks down by platform, he didn’t say.

As Joystiq point out, since Newell was vague because who wants to talk about sales numbers anyway, we’re not sure how many of those copies were sold using Steam or even if those numbers include all the sales of Portal 2. Newell is one of the only people who gets to see Steam sales figures, though — so if 3 million plus includes Steam, it’s gotta be about as close to the actual figure as we’re likely to get.

Guess what, though: although it has been around a lot longer, the original Portal sales have reached 4 million without including Steam sales — just what has moved on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
