Video: The Steam Controller In Action

Valve has released a video of the new, shiny, fancy Steam Controller in action.

Several games are demoed in the video, including Portal 2, Civ V, Papers, Please, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Seeing the dual trackpads in action, especially across four very different kinds of games, shows how promising the Valve hardware program is right now. Using both trackpads to control one mouse in Papers, Please, for example, might even be a better interface than a regular mouse (two mice are better than one, right?)

I’ll stop short at saying most PC gamers use a controller with their machine (if only with a few games)…but I do feel comfortable saying that a sizable chunk of the PC Gaming Master Race has an Xbox 360 controller handy to use with the likes of indie titles. The Steam Controller, in that sense, might be the best controller for the job, based on the video evidence.

What do you all think of the Steam Controller? Not necessarily as the only way to play games on PC, but as a compliment to your mouse and keyboard setup. Leave your thoughts in the comments.
