Vigilante 8 Remake is Xbox Live Arcade Bound

It should come as no surprise to you that I’m a fan of the vehicular combat genre; Twisted Metal, Rogue Trip – whatever it is, chances are I enjoy it. (Unless it sucks.) Activision today announced something that put a big smile on my face: Vigilante 8: Arcade is coming to Xbox Live Arcade this spring.

There’s no specific release date outside of “spring,” and the only thing we know is that V8: Arcade will be a remake of the original Vigilante 8 and will include an eight player online multiplayer and new content. Maybe they’ll inject some of the content from the game’s sequel?

According to the game’s official website, there will be five new levels, eight vehicles, lots of fancy sounding stuff (“[s]pectacular pyrotechnic, destruction effects, and physics-driven interactive hazards”), and the possibility for camera support, with a plan for future DLC.

We’ve got the first five screenshots of the game available on FileFront, so be sure to check them out.

Game mechanics from 1 and the vehicles from 2nd Offence…perlease?

Vigilante 8 was a fun game to play. Sure, both games had their bugs, but when it didn’t crash, it was very cool. It’s just, if this comes out, I REALLY want a hovering Moon Rover.

Hopefully it’s the 2nd offense game, I didn’t really like the first one.

I loved most of the Twisted Metal games and Rogue Trip. Vigilante 8, though… Well, let’s just say I’d rather play Carmageddon 3.
