Virtual Console to Add Master System Games

Yet another classic system will see its games added to the Wii’s Virtual Console library of games. Sega has announced that Master System titles will be released on VC beginning in February in Japan, starting with Fist of the North Star (600 points) and Fantasy Zone (500 points), with plans to release these games in North America and Europe at some as-yet unspecified point.

Not only will we be seeing Master System games, but Sega will also be releasing games for the Mark III and Game Gear – the latter of which I have many, many fond memories of playing when I was younger.

Now, if only there were trials of Virtual Console games, we’d really be talking.

P.S. Yes, the above image is large. But so was the Game Gear. That thing was an absolute behemoth, especially if you had the rechargeable battery packs like I did.

Ah, the Game Gear. The eater of batteries. I got the Master System attachment for it, so even though I didn’t have the Master System, I was still able to ply Alex Kidd…and drain my batteries even more. Damn that was fun, for 30 minutes

What’s the MarkIII? Was that a Japan-only console?
