Virtual Red Neck: Euro Truck Simulator 2 Adds Oculus Rift Support

Star Citizen, Elite: Dangerous, and EVE: Valkyrie have gamers itching to get their hands on an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. But why pilot a sci-fi starfighter across the universe when you can drive an 18-wheeler across virtual Europe?

You see where I’m going with this. That unexpectedly addictive truck driving sim, Euro Truck Simulator 2, is adding Oculus Rift support to make all of your misadventures in Europe even more immersive.

Now in beta, Euro Truck Simulator 2 virtual reality is coming soon, and Rift-enabled YouTube poster emart has kindly given us a preview of what’s to come:

Yes, I want to play this in virtual reality. You start playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 because the concept is so ridiculous, then you realize four hours have passed and if you make just one more delivery on time you’ll be able to level up your long-distance skill and make even more deliveries.

Anwho, the actual Rift headset is still only in dev kit form, and no release date beyond TBA 2014 has been announced for the HD consumer version. We’ll keep you posted.

Does it also allow you to virtually pee into a gatorade bottle, or take amphetamines to stay awake on those long hauls?
