Thrill To The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Cinematic Trailer

I feel like I’ve been waiting for this game for ages. Maybe it’s just because THQ always has a giant puffy Space Marine statue at E3. Or maybe it’s because Warhammer invented the ‘Space Soldiers In Puffy Armor’ genre of games. Or maybe it’s because the game series has successfully managed to make the transition from table top die cast toys to video games. Or maybe it’s because I AM WAAAAARRRR.

Cough.

Anyway, here’s that video.

Just wanted to point out a misspelling… It’s WAAAUUUUGGGHHH! :-) You’re not alone though. Dawn of War II was my introduction to the WH40K universe (though I’ve been playing Warhammer FRP and Warhammer Fantasy Battles for literally decades–my first game was in 1987), and I’ve since purchased, played, and finished DOWII:Chaos Rising and DOWII:Retribution. I’ve written 2 paid reviews of DOWII (one for the original, one for Chaos Rising), and at least for me, it’s been the singular best Sci-Fi experience I’ve experienced! EVER! Including movies, books, tabletop, board, & computer games included. Considering I’m 45 and have been gaming seriously since I played a T&T (Tunnels&Trolls) solo dungeon 33 years ago, I’m not sure I could give it higher praise. The scope of enjoyment is on par with the original Star Wars experience, again, at least IMO.

I generally don’t like FPS games, but I can’t pass on trying ANYTHING coming from the WH40K universe if it’s been put out by THQ.

In all honesty, what I’d love to see THQ do is come out with a MMORPG based on the DOWII engine, with increased gear, an almost endless universe where you could take your “commander” character (or hive boss, or WAUGH Chief, Eldar, or Chaos Marine commander) and build him up, allowing you to recruit up to 3 other squads to play with you, leading to places where there would likely be 100 player battles over IMMENSE battlefields, all, again, based on the DOWII engine. I wouldn’t want to it from a FPS perspective (a la WoW). I’d want to play it in the DOWII engine, perhaps with an option to look at the world from your commander’s perspective. Of course, if they did that, I’d probably be fired and my health failing from the # of hours I’d be awake and playing.

DAMN that looks good, doesn’t it? Of course I wouldn’t expect anything less from THQ.
