We're Giving Away Free Copies of Saga; Get 'Em While They're Hot

flash_saga.jpgLooking to play an innovative game that blends MMO elements with RTS gameplay? Well, Filefront’s got you covered. We’ve teamed up with the 1UP network and publisher Silverlode to bring you 50,000 copies of the critically acclaimed “MMORTS,” Saga. The game will have players amassing huge armies to fulfill their goals in a world created by the lead programmer for Starcraft: Brood War, Dallan Christensen. You’ll be able to build up an army of human, orcs, elves, dragons, giant mechs, and much more by acquiring booster packs of units. Units and resources can be bought and traded much like items in a traditional MMORPG, and the game’s persistent world will continue to evolve and expand even while you’re offline. Plus, as icing on the “awesome cake,” Saga is completely free to play.

Want your free copy of Saga? Well, then just click on the link below to download the game client. The client will come with a serial key, which you’ll need to use to create an account at the official Saga website. Be sure to check out the file’s description for instructions on creating your own account. You’ll have between now and May 11th to secure your copy of the game, unless we run out before then. We’re seriously giving away $1 million dollars worth of stuff here, people, so be sure not to miss out.

[Update: Some people seem to be having trouble locating their serial key. After following the link below and clicking "Download Now," the red text near the top of the page will change to display your own personal key so you can register your free copy. Happy gaming!]

This is somewhat misleading. The TRUE retail package comes with 3 boosters (digital or otherwise). This does NOT come with any boosters. Therefore, claims made such as “Plus, as icing on the “awesome cake,” Saga is completely free to play.”, are completely false.

Firstly, the game is not free to play. It’s 19.95 for the retail pack, which lets you have guild access and at least gives you 3 booster packs. Without these booster packs, you will always be at a severe disadvantage in the game (and will remain to be in that position, unless you continue buying booster packs to have all of the best units).

This game also not coming with the 3 boosters that every retail box or digital distribution comes with, is also misleading in the above article. You are only getting a retail key, and the unlocked guild and other features of the main game. So it is NOT really giving out 20 dollar value to us for downloading this. I honestly find this game nothing but a scam, the controls are not very good at all, and if you really want to compete and play the game how it is meant to be played, you will be spending MUCH MORE than the average 15 dollar a month fee. BEWARE.

Woh, Bill, hold on. No, you don’t get the boosters, but they are not necessary. There are a lot of people that played since beta that got to the top of the player ladders without ever buying a booster, just through thrifty trading. If you want to be instantly competitive, then ya, you should probably spend money, but if you are willing to exercise some restraint you can do it entirely free.

The previous giveaways were Trial account (no PVP, Trading or Guilds) with extra booster packs.
However i’d still prefer this one even with 0 boosters. The boosters give you army of 5 different factions and you can only play 1 faction at once. so trading IS crucial if you want to build an army.

As you level up you make resources quicker, and with those you can trade and get new cards. Guild bonus is also very useful.

MY advice: Get 2 account (Which is alowed, but no more then 2!) And simply send all stuff from 1 to the other one you’ll use. It’ll make your start a little bit easier.

I got an error when trying to use my key to register my copy of the game. It said that the key has already been used or does not exist! This error is given from the Saga website when you enter the key to upgrade to the retail version while using the key that Filefront provides.

I checked back and forth about 15 times and even copy pasted the key directly into the Saga site as well as checked the O vs 0 possibility in Word to make sure I wasnt just screwing something up myself.

Please Help.

Key doesn’t exist apparently. I copied and pasted, so no chance of error. Anyone got some answers? From other comments it seems this is usual.

The download page gives me the same key everytime I try (even after dumping cookies/temp).

This key is not valid or already used and I can’t get a different one to try out . . .

Is the filefront link jacked up???
