What Game Developer Are You Most Thankful For?

Today is Thanksgiving, and this year gamers have a lot to be thankful for. It’s been a great year for games across every platform, and that brings up an interesting question that we decided to pose to you, our wonderful readers.

Which game developer are you most thankful for? Maybe it’s Naughty Dog for their work with Uncharted series. Maybe it’s Blizzard, for all their WoW, Diablo and Starcraft goodness. Whoever it is, we want you to tell us who you choose.

Personally, I’m choosing Witcher 2 developer CD Projekt as my favorite. Not only have I loved both of the Witcher games, but their approach to DRM is awesome. Their efforts to bring DRM-free classics to the masses with GOG.com shouldn’t be ignored either.

Drop a comment below, and let us who you’re most thankful for and why. We’ll see if there’s a clear favorite when the holiday is over.

Valve, for being one of the only game devs that still care about PC gaming, for being one of the only companies that doesn’t charge ridiculous prices, for making some of the best games ever, and for Steam, which has a TON of stupidly good sales.

BioWare, for making awesome RPGs.

Rocksteady, for making the Arkham games, which are really great.

CDProjekt are great but Bethesda are definitely the best for creating Skyrim and having the sense to support modding. I’m still playing Oblivion and fallout 3 because they have been expanded by a huge community of modders. Just waiting for Skyrim mod tools now! GSC Gameworld are also amazing for bringing out STALKER which is also easily modified. Relic are class for supporting warhammer 40,000. I would say epic but they ditched (their flagship) unreal tournament…. But Bulletstorm is good but I think most of that was People can fly who are also cool for bringing out Painkiller :)

I’m thankful for Running With Scissors/Trashmasters.
Postal III only on Steam, and for the wait, it is probably going to be a bigger let down than DUKE NUKEM FOREVER, but it will be fun to watch it all unfold and see the kids RAGE.

Yeah thumbs up for them crazy Canadians over at GOG for selling over priced old DRM free products. I guess no one’s told them that it’s still $5 – $10 cheaper than their prices to torrent and remove offending DRM with a crack.

Have to be From Software. I can see myself playing Dark Souls for a very long time. And that is refreshing because too many games nowadays happen to be over and done with in a day or two and then left to rot in the shelves of either gamers or *cough* gamestop etc.

I value value in what I buy.
