I love all kinds of video games, and have recently taken a strong fondness for MMOs. The thought crossed my mind that GTA would actually make an interesting MMO. Perhaps I should shoot this idea over to the powers that be one day and see what they think. Close your eyes for a moment and just imagine running around Vice City for example with thousands of other players at the same time.
The possibilities are really endless and it could be one of the most original MMOs to ever hit the shelves. You could be anything from a car thief to a backstreet pimp and eventually work your way up to boss status. Clans could become virtual gangsâ$¦. all in good fun of course. I’m sure this would never happen in my lifetime, but I can still think about these things. If you think there are anti-gamers out there now, people would come out of the woodworks to shut down a project like this.
I’ll have to delve into this idea a little deeper as time goes on and see if I can develop some solid basics. I threw in the movie poster of Ron Howard’s first movie to prove a point that the idea of having fun stealing cars was around long before the game of the same title.

Umm.. you can already do everything that you mentioned, with lots lots LOTS more, with up to 200 players at current.. http://sa-mp.com

No offense, I’m sure your mod is awesome, but he means like an actual stand-alone game. I’m sure your mod doesn’t allow you to do missions with “gang members”. Imagine completing quests together, similar to the experience of WoW, but in a GTA setting. That’s what William meant

sorry weclock. It’s the weekend, so corporate types don’t work meaning no great news is ever released on a Saturday or Sunday. It’s always M-F and usually Monday-Wednesday is the really good news.

William, good point, Ive Been thinking that lately as well, but instead of just opne city and a lot of servers, one HUGE world based on, just like the game, the real world able to support about 100,000 people with computer players as well (AI) with a set mission thing (yes like the quet thing) plus player set mission. I’ve recently found out though, Rockstar has already started this in ’03. But I haven’t found much out on it yet, exept its still in BETA mode lol oh well guess its pretty cool though.

@Daniel: Actually it does, but SAMP is so outdated and flimsy. Use Multi Theft Auto instead
