Witcher 3 to Have 36 Different ‘States of Game’ Based on Choice

In an interview with our James Heaney today, CDProjekt RED Senior Gameplay Designer Damien Monnier told us that the Witcher 3 would have 36 different “states of game.”

We’ve known for a while that The Witcher 3 would be a vast, open world game. What we didn’t know was how much players would be able to affect the game itself through their choices. As the above quote illustrates, players may have quite the effect on how the game plays out, with 36 possible game states depending on their decisions.

We’ve got a full video interview for The Witcher 3 coming soon, so stay tuned for that. Until then, you can tide yourself over by checking out our Witcher 3 E3 preview and all of our SDCC content.

36 states … talk about replay value! Can’t wait to try it out for real!

Let’s hope this isn’t the same as BioWare’s “16 highly divergent endings” claim about Mass Effect 3. Or for that matter their claim of 40 endings to Dragon Age 3, which is bound to be pure horse sh!t as well.

I’m curious to see what this will actually mean. That is a lot of variation, but they are also very clear that this is “world states” rather than endings. I’m guessing the final cutscene will have a decent amount of variation, but since the world will be so huge it allows them to end up with a lot of flavors on the endings.

They made the same claim about the Witcher 2 and everything was the same regardless of your choices or your save-game from Witcher 1.

But nobody reported it, same way nobody reported Diablo 3′s recycled content similar to what DA2 pulled off.

lol bad
