For all of you Facebook users out there, Wizards of the Coast has introduced a new time wasting Application, Dungeons & Dragons: Tiny Adventures. It’s a great way to expose new people to D&D and the 4.0 build.
Tiny Adventures has the player pick a character and run through adventures to gain gold and experience. For each adventure your character will run a gauntlet of encounters which are resolved with automatic skill checks based on abilities and gear. You can buy items from the shop between adventures as well as gaining loot within adventures.
The game has a few bugs as is only to be expected from an application in its infancy. At one point I found that I had over fifty items in my inventory because everything had been duplicated. I also inexplicable lost 2 levels at one point. It looks like the game could easily be adapted to use the characters’ abilities, but it doesn’t, at least not in single player adventures. Players can buff their friends for a few encounters although how is not explained. Some of these can be explained by its popularity and server overload.
Tiny Adventures is a D&D like experience which can be really quite addictive, especially if you normally spend hours online anyway. It tempts you to leave your Facebook up and running for the updates which come every ten minutes or so. To read more about it, check out the latest Wizards of the Coast Digital Insider.

Yeah it totally got bum rushed and killed their servers, they have a message up saying try back tomorrow.

Yeah the message is pretty funny:
“Your Server was exploring the dungeon and preparing to battle the mighty dragon when it encountered a horde of good-looking, expert Tiny Adventure players.
Your Server made a server load check with a difficulty of 3700 . . . and rolled 1
Your Server was dominated by the exited players and its CPU was trampled. Your Server headed back to the shop to purchase a huge upgrade for itself and will be back tomorrow. The horde of players was thanked again for their enthusiasm and patience.
Please check back tomorrow afternoon (Friday August 22nd).”
