World of Speed is a F2P Racer Coming in 2014

Slightly Mad Studios (Need for Speed: Shift) is expected to launch crowdfunded racer Project CARS late this year. The developer announced this morning that it has another driving game for 2014 up its sleeve — World of Speed.

World of Speed is a free-to-play arcade racer with tracks based in cities all over the world. It will also attempt to do things a bit differently from traditional racers by putting the focus on team play. From Slightly Mad:

World of Speed introduces a new level of connected competition allowing players to team up and compete in an ever-expanding number of gameplay modes where completing team-based objectives determines the victor. Being the first to cross the finish line no longer guarantees your victory; it’s all about the Team!

Player Clubs will have the opportunity to compete in live events and various player challenges, and Slightly Mad says World of Speed will evolve and grow over time with new cars, tracks, modes, and more.

World of Speed is a PC exclusive set for launch sometime in 2014. Check out the debut trailer below and head on over to the official World of Speed site to register for the “coming soon” beta.
