World of Warcraft Patch 5.2 Guide: Mounts, Valor Gear & Buying The Farm

How do I get one of those sweet weapons from past expansions?

When your server has unlocked the Thunder Forges (stage 4) on the island, players with the blacksmith profession will be able to start crafting classic weapons from previous raids. There is a complete list here along with images. If you are interested in one of these, start gathering Ghost Iron now.

How do I blacksmith the new Lightning Steel classic weapons?

First you need to learn how to forge Lightning Steel ingots. When the Thunder Forge area of the Isle of Thunder is opened, you need to kill Itoka. He drops an item for blacksmiths that starts the quest chain. Upon completion of that quest chain, you will receive a number of classic blacksmith plans and the ability to forge the Lightning Steel necessary to complete them. Check out the bottom of this Wowhead article for pictures of the classic weapons you can forge.

If you want to level up on blacksmithing, now’s the time. New quests are in that allow you to level from 1 to 500 using only Ghost Iron found on Pandaria. You have to be at least level 85 and then you can talk to the blacksmithing vendor in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms at your faction hub.

Where do I get that snazzy purple top hat?

It comes from the Darkmoon Faire with patch 5.2. You can either win it randomly in the new satchel reward from doing Darkmoon Faire dailies (the Darkmoon Game Prize) or just buy it for 10 Darkmoon Faire tickets from Gelvas Grimegate, the Faire vendor that sells the stationary animal rides.

Where is the item upgrade vendor?

This NPC has been removed with the 5.2 patch and may or may not return with patch 5.3.

How do I start the Warlock fel-green fire quest?

You need to find the Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion. It is a rare drop from random mobs on the Isle of Thunder. Once you combine it with a Healthstone, it becomes the Codex of Xerrath which can be right-clicked to start the quest. The Sealed Tome doesn’t appear to be bind-on-acquire, so be sure to check the Auction House as well. If you decide you don’t like the new green effects, you can turn them off by talking to Jubeka Shadowbreaker in Shadowmoon Valley.

The cook stove pet was removed from patch 5.2. There was no explanation given but I believe its in the patch notes.

That’s too bad. I was hoping for a little cooking pot companion. Post updated!
