World’s Largest Game Collection Sells For $750,000

The world’s largest game collection has found itself a buyer.

That, at least, will be the case if the high bidder of a recent auction at GameGavel follows through on their winning bid of $750,250. The bid, of course, was for Michael Tommason’s massive gaming collection which was confirmed earlier this year by the 2014 edition of the Guinness World Records book to be the largest in the world.

If the winning bidder ponies up the dough, they’ll be receiving an epic gaming stash that includes more than 11,000 separate games, 8,300 of which include their boxes and manuals. Another 2,600 are factory shrink-wrapped. The collection also contains dozens of complete and incomplete consoles as well as a complimentary lifetime subscription to Retro Magazine.

Tommason’s auction came to a close on June 15th after launching at the beginning of the month. He stated in the auction’s description that the was selling his collection, accumulated over 25 years, to help a family member. We can only hope that $750,000 will do the trick.
