X-Play’s Adam Sessler Leaves G4; Departure Rumored to Be “Not Amicable”

Long-time X-Play co-host Adam Sessler is parting ways with G4, and rumor has it that his departure was not on good terms. In many ways, Sessler was X-Play, having been with the show since its 1998 debut. Today will mark his final appearance on the gaming TV program.

A statement from Sessler’s representative reads:

Television personality Adam Sessler and TV network G4 are parting ways, with Adam’s last episode as host of G4′s “X-Play” airing on the network today, Wednesday, April 25. Adam has been hosting the show since it first aired as ZDTV’s “Gamespot TV” in July 1998 and he also served as Editor In Chief of games content at G4. His current projects include starring as himself in the Summer 2012 movie “noobz” and consulting with a film production company on theatrical feature adaptations of video games. Adam intends to stay in front of the camera and continue as a key voice within the games industry. He also sings and is available for weddings and bar mitzvahs.

According to Kotaku, Sessler is leaving due to a contractual dispute, and the departure was not on amicable terms.

We wish Sessler well on his future projects.

G4 is not a good substitute for TechTV/ZDTV anyway, I hope Adam finds better employment he’s a funny, funny man

Yup, I loved TechTV. When G4 took over they ruined everything, starting with The Screen Savers. And as far as Adam Sessler, I was never a fan. He can be very amusing to watch, but our opinions on games differ too much. I also never liked his attitude towards people that didn’t share his opinion; he was quick to make accusations of gamers being “whiney crybabies” or of being “entitled.” I wouldn’t be surprised if he was against the whole Retake Mass Effect movement.

Do not know what to say, sometimes Adam Sessler was promoter of games which obviously was overrated by him, well, honestly to say: in NOW a DAY everybody doing that: gamespot, gamespy and etc., and there is no freedom press anymore, but one for sure Adam Sessler was fun in all his appearances on TV… I am going to miss his jokes, but I hope this is not for long and that kind of Iconic persons always needed and I am sure some other company will pick him UP.

That sucks. Other than AOTS, that channel has had nothing but X-Play carrying it for ages. I guess the problem was that Sessler knew it. Ah well, all good things I suppose. Wonder if they’ll only replace him or Morgan as well. Heck I haven’t watched it in ages..she may already be gone for all I know.

Adam does have a video on g4 called Sessler’s soapbox when he talks about the mass effect ending. He seems to be happy with the ending SXO.

That doesn’t surprise me in the least, Lee. Did he bash the people that didn’t like the ending?

I’m glad he left. G4 isn’t even a shadow of what it once was. He, the people still on G4 from the old days, and all the cancelled shows deserve much better. I hope that the other people that survived from the old G4 leave as well.
