Xbox 360 S 250 GB Hard Drive On Sale

So maybe you went to your friendly neighborhood retailer over the weekend and picked up a new shiny Xbox 360, and maybe you were shocked and excited to learn it only ran you $200 instead of $300, but you just don’t question that kind of awesome thing. And maybe you went home, tore that box the f**k open and set the bitch up quickly. Maybe you turn it on and pop in that copy of Madden you also picked up, and then you play all through the night. Then maybe you want to download the entire first season of Caprica in high definition, only to find that OOPS YOUR HARD DRIVE IS ONLY 4 GB WHAT YEAR IS IT 1997????

So, this weekend, Microsoft put on sale a 250 GB hard drive compatible with the new 360 S, and I have just described to you the situation that will bring about 90% of sales on this thing. Yes, it costs $130, but because 200+130-300 is 30, you’ll only end up spending $30 more than you would on a 360 S with the 250 GB HD built in, and that’s a small price to pay for illiteracy.

If none of that made sense to you, here’s a video of Major Nelson explaining it.

The confusion could have been somewhat avoided if MS would have just gone ahead and labeled the 4GB 360 S as “arcade”. Since the introduction of NXE, A 4GB hard drive is about as useful as no hard drive and a 4GB memory stick.
