Waiter? There’s PC Footage In My Battlefield 4 Xbox One Ad

Did any of you watch the US vs EU Battlefield 4 Showdown today? America swept the Euros three games to none (props to daskro, Stan, Curtis and the rest for making the North American BF4 community proud!), and it was a blast to watch.

The event is over and done with, but scores of commenters on YouTube aren’t happy with the ads that Team Xbox used to promote the event. In the above video, we see Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) talking about the competition (he was the captain and commander for Team America). The BF4 gameplay starts at 0:52, and it looks like PC game footage is being used in lieu of Xbox One footage. You can see the keyboard-minded controls at center-bottom (pressing the 3, 4, T, and V keys for different weapon actions), and in the upper-right corner (the backspace key starts Battlelog in-game).

Let’s call this what it really, in all likelihood, is: a mix-up. EA, DICE, and Microsoft are not Illuminati board members (okay, maybe Microsoft), and I have a hard time believing that they would try and sneak PC footage into an Xbox-branded video because it looks better. The “shame on Microsoft” comments on YouTube should really be “the devil’s in the details, Microsoft.” We aren’t talking about a high-profile TV or movie theater ad, or even a gameplay trailer. We’re talking about an ad for a live event.

Battlefield 4 looks pretty sharp on the Xbox One, even if it’s running at a low resolution. And since everything looks like crap on YouTube anyway, I doubt this is some sort of fast one trying to be pulled by our video game overlords. Consider this the mountain-from-a-molehill issue of the day.

PC is the superior race.

So the fact that Microsoft tried passing off win 7 machines as Xbox one wasn’t a truck either right?
