Xbox Live Encountered “minor issues” due to Halo 3 Launch

Naturally, a LOT of people headed onto Xbox Live as soon as they came scrambling home in the wee-hours of Tuesday morning, Halo 3 in hand. All across the Internet, the cries and whines of Xbox 360 owners could be heard, as a variety of issues sprung up, apparently due to the major increase in Xbox Live traffic.

Screens freezing and the inability to sign in to Xbox Live were only the tip of the iceberg. Things seem to have smoothed out in the proceeding days, but you can imagine gamers weren’t too happy that, once again, they’re unmitigated excitement was able to bring Xbox Live down to its knees.

Microsoft has confirmed to Next Gen that there were indeed some issues, but that they’ve since been fixed. “Xbox Live and Xbox.com experienced minor issues [Tuesday] as a result of increased activity due to the launch of Halo 3. The issues were quickly resolved and both Xbox Live and Xbox.com are now working fine.”

I’m sure the many, many thousands of gamers out there who struggled for hours to get Xbox Live to work would say there was more than a “minor issue.”
